Decompression Therapy
"About a year ago, I began experiencing pain and a burning feeling in my leg. It got to the point where it was almost debilitating. Dr. De Leeuw recommended an alternative treatment program using the spinal decompression machine. After a few treatments, the pain in my leg began to get better. Using regular treatments, I now have no pain." Brian Z. Current Decompression Patient

Decompression Therapy gives relief to individuals living with neck and back pain. The vertebrae have soft discs that reside between each vertebrae to cushion the vertebrae. The nervous system, which runs the length of the spine and through each soft disc, is controlled by the brain and sends signals to all your organs. When these discs become pinched or bulged, it puts pressure on the nerves running through the vertebrae causing pain and numerous other symptoms. Pressure on the discs can be caused by a degeneration of the discs due to age or overuse and by injuries due to falls or accidents (including auto accidents). Decompression Therapy uses gentle pulling to "reinflate" the soft tissue discs, thereby taking pressure off the nerves and relieving the pain and the symptoms caused by pressure on the nerves. Please watch the video on our home page for a more in depth explanation of the nervous system.

What is Decompression Therapy?
Decompression Therapy uses a gentle pulling technique that is documented by Blue Cross Blue Shield to be 94% effective at correcting disc problems. It is non-surgical and requires no down time from surgery and no use of drugs. Surgery has been documented to be 40-50% effective at solving disc problems. The gentle pulling creates a vacuum within the discs to restore discs back to normal disc height which then allows pressure to be taken off the nerves and nutrients to flow back into the discs. Research has shown that Decompression Therapy can cause discs to grow back, restoring health to the discs.

Who Benefits From Decompression Therapy?
Many individuals have sought Decompression Therapy as an alternative to surgery. If you have been chosen as a candidate for surgery, Decompression Therapy is the alternative. Moreover, individuals who have general neck and back pain have found relief. The exciting prospect for Decompression Therapy is that people who live relatively free from pain are also using Decompression Therapy to be proactive in their health so that they can maintain their healthy discs and prevent them from deteriorating or becoming pinched in the first place.

When Do I Get Results?
Patients tell us after the first visit that they feel positive results. Treatment takes approximately 10-20 minutes each treatment (time increases as the length of the treatment plan increases). Treatment plans vary depending on the severity of the disc problem in each individual but can range from a few treatments to around twenty treatments for severe cases.
What Are The Side Effects?
There are no dangerous side effects from Decompression Therapy that you might have with surgery or drugs. Patients can sometimes be sore after a treatment as the muscles surrounding the vertebrae become accustomed to "holding" your vertebrae differently.
